🌿 Make Haste, O Lord, to Help Me – Psalm 40:13
“Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; make haste, O Lord, to help me.” — Psalm 40:13
In today's verse, David—who knew his standing—humbled himself and called on God to save him. He was in trouble. Evils beyond number had surrounded him. Iniquities had overtaken him. His heart had failed him.
But David knew who could deliver him: the God of his fathers. So he cried out: “Be pleased, O LORD.”
Some people, when trouble surrounds them, easily give up and accept total failure.
Others are full of pride. They rely on themselves and refuse to humble themselves before God. They do not feel the need to call on Him as David did.
Wrong doctrine has consumed them. Some claim: “We are in the dispensation of grace. God has already done it. It is finished. There is no need to call on Him for help. We are already delivered. We only give thanks.”
Yes, we ought to give thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. But we must first call on the name of Jesus and say: “Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me from what I am going through” —the pain, the poverty, the disaster.
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” — Psalm 50:15
David did not stop there. He continued to beg: “Make haste, O LORD, to help me.”
He asked God to work on his situation quickly. He needed immediate help—a speedy touch from the Lord.
Perhaps you are in the same situation. You need God to make haste and help you out of that problem. You are tired of being mocked and laughed at because your wound is still open. You have no job, no clothing, no food. Poverty has become your other name. Your children are rebels. A loved one has been ill for years. You are in deep trauma over the killing of a loved one.
My brother, my sister—call on God.
Ask Him to make haste. Make your problem known to Him through prayer and petition. If you truly rely on Him, ask the heavenly Father to help you recover from that loss, from that bad debtor. Ask Him to help you pay off your debts. Call on Him for help—for peace at your workplace, for healing, for breakthrough.
Ask Him to make the situation that seems impossible possible. Yes—there is nothing too hard for Him.
It is the very reason David called on Him. It is the same reason we call on Him.
“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” — Genesis 18:14
Lord, be pleased to deliver the one reading this. Make haste to help them. You see their situation—the pain, the poverty, the mockery, the trauma. Nothing is too hard for You. Work quickly, Lord, for Your name's sake. In Jesus' name, Amen.
